Two Medical Personnel Rape Unsuspecting Job Applicant!

Two medical personnel attached to
the federal government owned Irrua
Specialist Hospital, Irrua , Edo State have
been arraigned before an Ekpoma Magistrate
Court for allegedly raping a 25 year old girl
after allegedly administering her with
injection.
The accused persons are Dr. Ndukwe Kalu, a
Pharmacist and Eriyo Omoregie,a medical
doctor. They were accused of raping and
assaulting the woman (name Withheld) at
Ebhokhuala Quarters of Ekpoma, Esan West
Local Government Area of Edo State.
Police prosecutor, Mr. Nicholas Ogbadu told
the court presided over by Mrs. M. Iluobe that
the accused persons conspired among
themselves to rape, raped and assaulted the
woman in breach of section 355 of the
criminal code of the defunct Bendel State,
also applicable in Edo State.
The plaintiff, while narrating her ordeal before
the court alleged that Dr. Omoregie lured her
to his abode at Ebhoakhuala on February 29,
2012 with a promise to help her secure a job
at the teaching hospital.
Oblivious of his intention, she told the court
that she went to his house with an
application letter as requested by the medical
doctor, whom she had worked for in the past.
She narrated further that in the process of
delivering the letter, Dr.Kalu emerged from
one of the rooms in the house and held her
hands, during which Dr. Omoregie injected
her, adding that having succeeded in
weakening her, Dr. Kalu allegedly took the
advantage and raped her.
She also alleged that she sustain bruises in
her face during the initial struggle, as they
tried to cover her mouth to prevent her from
screaming.
She further alleged that when she regained
strength and sort to leave, she was told that
her clothes had been soaked in water, adding
that at her insistence, she was eventually
given the soaked
clothes which she wore out of the place.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty while
the trial magistrate adjourned the case to May
30, 2012 for further hearing on the case.
